In the Machinima Assign, is there a written requirement past the captioning of the video, also, is it better referencing videos as you go in a discrete way or is a more correct way as 'credits' at the end? Thanks

No, but it is up to you how extensive the captions are. The intention was that they were more provokative than explanatory. In terms of referencing, that's completely up to you, both ways have strengths and weaknesses and the way you choose (or hybrid between them) should support the content of the video.
